A huge event going on, an opportunity to meet a famous star, a chance to get on television etc. all these "important", "once in a lifetime" events. Is it ONLY these events that we call "once in a lifetime"?
To me, once in a lifetime could very well be anything, everything we do, everything we say, every breath we take, every single moment of our life.
At the right moment, a turn of the eye and one might just see a cormet soar through the sky. now that's once in a lifetime.
To go for a famous rock concert which is "once in a lifetime" or to stay at home, with your mother?
to me each time i spend together with my family is always once in a lifetime. it is never the same. each time we get together, venture in to new eating haunts.. how dad or mom's mood could change anytime.. how my sister get's a new song stuck in her head, how my teacher totally pissed me off. all these sharing, experiences, they are once in a lifetime.

In economics, we have the term: opportunity cost.
definition: the highest valued alternative that had to be forgone to satisfy the particular want.
this is brought about by people's unlimited wants but limited resources. in this case, it is TIME. time and tide waits for no man. we can't be at two places at a certain time. hence, we tend to prioritise. sometimes we regret our decisions, regret not going for the "once in a lifetime" experience. we tend to feel down.
but hey!!! whatever we do is "once in a lifetime"!!! even by blogging now, i'm not doing my homework!! but its my choice and having this post is once in a lifetime, although it would have been once in a lifetime to revise my work now too.
Of course, it is once in a lifetime that you get to read this post at this very instant =D
